Call of Duty Vanguard got quite a vitriolic response at launch, with some people even calling it the worst game ever for the franchise.

The game was released in November last year, and fans had quite a lot of expectations from it. With a new co-op Zombies mode, multiplayer modes such as Champion Hill, and a whopping 20 multiplayer maps. However, when the game was released, it was far from what fans would want, and the game got abysmally bad reviews.

Zombies remain to be one of the most popular aspects of the Call of Duty games, and Vanguard failed miserably to deliver on that front. Ranging from the lack of original content to widespread repetition, there were numerous reasons for its failure. However, despite all the problems, it seems like Call of Duty Vanguard is still doing exceedingly well in terms of revenue.

Vanguard Remains 2nd Best Selling Game Despite Bad Reviews

According to a new report by ND Group, Call of Duty Vanguard is the second most selling game of January 2022. The list is topped by Pokemon Legends: Arceus, which is not surprising considering the game's popularity and the fact that it was released in January itself. Moreover, when it comes to year-to-date charts, Call of Duty: Vanguard is still on second, with the list being headed by Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

It is quite interesting to see that Vanguard is still the second best-selling game in the month of January as well, considering how bad the game's reception has been so far. However, it seems like the developers will be taking some major steps in the next game of the franchise, as rumors have suggested that a subscription-based model could possibly be in the works. Along with that, we could also be seeing a mobile app, a UI redesign, and much more. While these are still rumors, for now, Call of Duty Vanguard still seems to be enjoying some good sales despite being one of the worst games in the franchise.
