Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm could be the next greatest 2D fighting game, but Nyu Media needs your help to get it done.

The passion project of three former SNK/King of Fighters developer, Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm is now looking for crowdfunding support via IndieGogo to complete the game and offer more features for gamers.

While Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm is being developed by three former staff of SNK, the game takes more influence from Street Fighter III: Third Strike, with some similar play elements to BlazBlue. The game currently features eight playable characters, high-quality "old school graphics," and accessible but deep fighting game mechanics. The game also has a commentary system, which will reportedly feature celebrity fighting game commentator voiceovers that cheer you on or talk trash as you play.

Nyu Media has turned to IndieGogo to offer even more value to players, hoping to add new characters (which backers can vote on, akin to how the Skullgirls crowdfunding campaign went), produce an arcade version for Japan, and full localize the game for worldwide release. With such a small team, the Yatagarasu developers are looking for support to speed up development and provide better quality, hoping to also add new graphics, story rewrites, and--if necessary--more time balance out gameplay and provide better online match support.

With 46 days left to complete the campaign, Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm has currently raised a little more than $1,000 of its $68,000 goal. The game is set to release on the PC; for a full list of rewards and the new characters to vote on, check out the Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm IndieGogo page.
