“Video Games Cause Rape” Lady Gets Attacked On Amazon

Emmy award-winning media psychologist Carol Lieberman caused a bit of a stir in the nerd community recently by claiming playing video games caused an increase in rapes throughout the country, in reference to Bulletstorm.

“The increase in rapes can be attributed in large part to the playing out of [sexual] scenes in videogames”

Not a group to take the infiltration of their secret clubhouse lightly, gamers took action. The Amazon page of her most recent book, Bad Girls: Why Men Love Them and How Good Girls Can Learn Their Secrets, has been flooded with 1 star reviews today. With 6 reviews this morning the page now has fifty-two, fourty-three of them 1 star, two 2 star and seven 5 stars. The books 5 star rating has plummeted to a 1 1/2.

Amazon will probably get on this pretty quickly with all the coverage it’s been getting, but many of these reviews mention actual criticisms about the book and may cause some confusion. The author has yet to respond.
