As 2016 has heralded “the year of visual reality” for many, the Virtual Reality Developers Conference will converge this fall to bring together the VR community and its developers to continue to advance the promising field.
With its first iteration at this year’s Game Developers Conference, the Virtual Reality Developers Conference has announced its first standalone edition that will be coming to San Francisco from November 2-3, 2016, at the Park Central Hotel.
Along with the conference having its own venue and format, the VRDC will also bring on a new advisory board to oversee the event, including members from companies such as Valve, Oculus, Google, and more.
While gaming will play a large part of what VRDC has to offer, the event will also expand into outside uses for virtual reality in other fields, such as healthcare, journalism, travel, manufacturing, live events, and many others.
In a statement, VRDC and DC general manager Meggan Scavio explained her thoughts on the move for VRDC to its first standalone iteration:
“Now that VR platforms have hit the market, virtual experiences that entertain, inform, and provide entirely new ways to engage are increasingly in demand. We’re thrilled to provide the highest quality content for VR developers, while exploring innovative applications for the technology.”
The Virtual Reality Developers Conference will take place from November 2-3 in San Francisco, CA.
