Virtual reality is a boon for horror games, massively improving on immersion, Resident Evil: Revelations 2 producer Michiteru Okabe says.

Now it's time to surround yourself in these worlds instead of just having a screen in front of you. It makes sense; the technology is there.

He said that while the improved immersion benefits most games, it fits particularly well with horror, given the importance of atmosphere.

It makes sense for a lot of game genres; I think it makes a special kind of sense for horror games where immersion is more important than perhaps in other genres

As such, he said that it was something he and his development team would be thinking about for their feature games.

I think we should most definitely start thinking about what we could do with that kind of technology in the future. It makes perfect sense.

Resident Evil: Revelations 2 is set for release early next year on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC
