The Walking Dead: The Final Season on PC Releasing Exclusively on Epic Games Store
Telltale's The Walking Dead: The Final Season will only be found on the Epic Games Store going forward on PC, though legacy season owners are not left out.
Skybound games has announced a partnership with Epic Games that will see future Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season episodes launch exclusively on the Epic Games Store.
For those who have already purchased the entire season of Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season will still receive the remaining two episodes through their original client (most likely Steam). However, going forward Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season on PC will only be available on the Epic Games Store. The third episode, “Broken Toys” will release on all platforms on January 15, 2019 and is being developed by Skybound Games after the dissolution of Telltale earlier this year. Voice actress of Clementine, Melissa Hutchison, appeared in a video answering some fans questions about the status of Steam purchases, choices carrying over, and the status of other Telltale games series.
Skybound has attempted to bring back the original Telltale Games developers in order to close out this final season. Sales of Telltale’s The Walking Dead: The Final Season were suspended following their closure in September, but have been reinstated since the introduction of Skybound and an in-house team named StillNotBitten. A release date for Episode 3 was announced during the Kinda Funny Games Showcase after some speculation that it might still make a 2018 release. As we wait for Episode 3: Broken Toys to release you can enjoy our reviews of Episode 1: Done Running and Episode 2: Suffer the Children. The Epic Games Store launched at The Game Awards and included some exclusive games such as early access Hades from Supergiant Games, Ashen from A44, and Super Meat Boy from Team Meat.
“The team at Epic owns a major chapter in the history of the game industry. We’re excited to work together on their latest transformative event with the launch of the Epic Games Store. Epic stepped up to the plate immediately to work with us in order to bring the original team back together and ensure fans will receive the completed season of TELLTALE’S THE WALKING DEAD: THE FINAL SEASON,” said President of Interactive Dan Murray and Skybound Games CEO Ian Howe in a joint-statement.
