With the Godzilla reboot only weeks away from release, it was only a matter of time before someone spoofed the iconic giant monster somewhere. So thank Gaijin Entertainment and their newest War Thunder update, which allows players to face the terrifying "Gaijilla" in the Arcade mode of the Developer server.

The official background to Gaijilla is as follows:

At the end of March 1945 the Burmese National Army engaged Japanese occupational forces in fierce combat, and with the support of the Allies, soon liberated their country from invading forces. The Japanese army was unable to turn the tide of battle despite deploying their experimental war machine Daikaidzu "Gaijilla" GD11a, which the natives called "giant monster".

In honor of the occasion, Gaijin Entertainment will be introducing a new experimental unit for Japan into War Thunder. Unlike most Japanese combat vehicles, the new model is slower to maneuver in battle, but will have superior durability and ammunition, a mechanical beast all its own.

Just to be clear, this is an April Fool's prank. According to a community manager from Gaijin, the giant snail is the joke (having been hinted at for some time now on the forums) and is supposed to be real, appearing at random if players use the Arcade Mode of the developer server. But once again, try it at your own risk, since we've yet had anyone try it on our end and confirm its existence.

You can check out a sneak peek of Gaijilla in the trailer below; to play against it, you can install the War Thunder Developer client launcher here. For more on the game, check out all of our War Thunder news; and for more on how to join the open beta, check out the War Thunder website.
