Wargame: European Escalation’s NATO Trailer is All About Shutting Up and Shooting

The newest video for Eugen Systems’ Wargame: European Escalation plays contrary to what you’d think of a real-time strategy game. Instead of calm, steady planning you’ve got a scene of utter chaos as a British convoy is ambushed only to be saved by NATO forces. The PC title is due out in February and will feature 361 different units, a few of which you can see in the video embedded after the jump.

Unlike most modern war games, European Escalation┬áisn’t set during World War II or after the first Gulf War. The events of the title take place during the Cold War between 1975 and 1985. The threat of all-out nuclear war is ever-present during the game, which could make for an interesting motivator. Guess we’ll just have to wait until next month to find out.

The trailer features footage shot completely in-game, so what you see below is what you’ll get when you boot up the game.
