Developer Fatshark has revealed a new free DLC for Warhammer: Vermintide 2, titled Tower of Treachery, which is set to conclude the Treacherous Adventure Saga. The upcoming update will be released for PC on March 28, with the console versions to follow later this year.

Hot on the heels of the game's fifth anniversary, Fatshark revealed the next content update via a cinematic trailer. The Tower of Treachery will see the Ubersreik 5 investigate strange incidents in the neighboring town. Players will face off against the Necromancer Sofia Fuegonasus to stop her from wreaking havoc across the realm. The DLC will be the final installment of the Treachery storyline, which first started with Trail of Treachery in November of last year. You must pave the way to Tockstadt and find out what misfortune has befallen the settlement.

Sofia Fueonasus has taken over Olesya's old hideout and aims to spread her corruption throughout the Grey Mountains. Players will be tasked with stopping her deadly plans while navigating both Olesya's and Sophia's traps. They must re-tread familiar ground with reignited purpose.

The DLC adds a new mission tied to the game's previous update, as it also brings 13 new challenges for players to put their skills to the test. Besides, players will save the village of Tockstadt, littered with illusions and surprises.

"After releasing the first part of the adventure with Trail of Treachery, we're super intrigued to see the players’ reaction to this second and final installment. A lot of work and passion has gone into creating this new villain, Sofia — hopefully, our players will like her as much as we do," Sacha Karsenty, producer at Fatshark, teased the new content before its imminent launch. In terms of gameplay, the DLC also includes a new zone, wherein players can complete challenges to earn rewards.

Warhammer: Vermintide 2 first launched to a positive reception in May 2018, thanks to its cooperative melee combat and mild RPG elements. It also received praise for how every class brings something different to the table in terms of gameplay. Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.
