Today's issue of Weekly Famitsu included the first screenshots and information on the upcoming Musou title Musou Orochi 3, which will be called Warriors Orochi 4 in the west. The game will include 170 characters, and in the gallery below we can see 165. Among the new characters are the gods of Olympus, led by Zeus (of whom we only see a silhouette for now), with four more who are unknown. Interestingly, it appears that Zeus himself is behind the return of the heroes, who have lost their memories. This means that their bonds and relationships will be completely reset. We'll get new techniques named Divine Arts on top of the usual action based on square and triangle, while characters will have the ability to transform into gods via Deification. Holy Treasures can be equipped on top of weapons, and they influence the effect of the divine arts. It'll also be possible to train your heroes. While the game has been announced only for PS4 and Switch, the interview in the article hints that a PC version might also come via Steam, but it'll probably be released after the console version. This isn't surprising, as it'll probably launch alongside the upcoming western release. For Japan, the team is targeting a fall release.Apparently, there won't be new crossover characters, as the developers want to return of the origins and depict in better depth the characters of the original series. The story mode will return, alongside free mode that lets you tackle single scenarios.Multiplayer is also included with online co-op and offline split-screen. They're also working on a control scheme to use the Switch's joycons for multiplayer, but it's not yet confirmed because of the number of buttons available. At the moment we also know that the game will be released in the west, but we don’t yet officially know which platforms Koei Tecmo will pick for North America and Europe, as they often add new ones for the western market.Incidentally, Koei Tecmo also teased news about the western version for tomorrow at 2:00 PM UK time, of course, we already know that the "new hero" they're teasing is Zeus. You can check out the images from Famitsu below, keeping in mind that the quality is what it is since they're from magazine scans.
