Warzone 2.0 has taken the world by storm, proving itself just as popular as the original in only a matter of weeks! With its release came loads of changes and updates that veterans and new players alike were forced to learn. Perhaps one of the biggest game alterations came with the Gulag, dropping the classic 1v1 format in favor of a more balanced 2v2 arena. Not to mention the insane introduction of the juggernaut, which added a second win condition!
Winning the Gulag can mean the difference between a Warzone victory and an early defeat, so it is vital that all players understand the basics of how to defeat their opponents! So to help you clutch up and get back in the fight, this list will go over 10 tips and tricks for emerging victorious from the Gulag in Warzone 2.
10 Communicate With Your Partner
Unless they decide to leave prematurely, you will always have a partner fighting alongside you in the Gulag. While not every player uses a headset and mic, it is important to take advantage of it when they do! During the countdown, speak up and ask. You've got to set the tone for strong communication throughout the fight.
Give call-outs, suggest strategies, and especially listen to your teammate if they speak. They might very well save your life by doing so! If you don't have a mic, be aware of the ping system which will allow you to mark the locations of enemies or even guide your partner on where to go.
9 Use Your Equipment Freely
Unlike the original Warzone Gulag, there is now loot scattered all around the map. This allows players to be much more "hail mary" with their throwables, because there will almost always be another lethal laying on the ground right beside you. If you aren't sure where the enemy is, don't be afraid to take a guess and light the area up!
The same goes for tacticals. In life or death situations like the Gulag, getting that cheeky flash or stun on an enemy is basically a free kill. Throw your tacticals like there's no tomorrow, and even if they don't hit, your equipment will assuredly fluster and scatter your enemies.

Move It
An absolutely fatal mistake in the Gulag is sitting in the same spot and hoping for a slick kill. Nine times out of ten, this will result in nothing but a sudden and unexpected death! Tilt the playing field in your favor by constantly changing to different power positions, and make sure to keep an eye out!
By staying still, enemy players are going to rapidly dial in on your location when they see you nowhere else. The layout of the map means that it will be easy for your opponents to drop in on you for the kill! There is a caveat here though. If you cooperate with your teammate and watch each other's back, this method can sometimes work. But generally, don't do this.
7 Power Positions
Where are the strongest spots on the map? The most immediately obvious answer to this question is the elevated section with three sets of stairs leading up. Fighting for this location is not at all a bad idea, as it allows for both the high-ground and rapid rotations around the arena.
But that isn't the only power position on the map. Both of the spawns are relatively good places to be in if the fight happens to break out over there. Meanwhile, the two short walls adjacent to the circular structure offer some pretty great lines of sight. A word of advice: No matter how tempting, never climb on top of the platform the jailer spawns in on, as it is visible from every area of the map! It is a very sudden death sentence...
6 Make Peace In War
Many of us have seen the countless videos circulating the internet of the poor souls who team up with the enemy in Warzone, only to get blasted to bits as they turn around. In the Gulag, however, the stakes are a bit higher, and teaming up against the jailer offers serious benefits for everyone involved!
If the Jailer spawns in and you aren't confident that your team will succeed, use proximity chat to suggest uniting against the common enemy! If the jailer is defeated, both teams are redeployed into Warzone, so it isn't uncommon for opponents to join in. Otherwise, it is still possible to defeat the Jailer on your own, just make sure to do it quickly!
5 Avoid The Middle
No matter what your playstyle is, stay far away from the middle! Stick to the edges, the walls are your friends. Running gung-ho out into the middle of the map is an easy way to get your head blown off because of the utter lack of cover.
Sticking to one side of the map is a great way to prevent enemies from sneaking up behind you, so while it may be tempting to rush in guns blazing, you need to play it tactically! This tip may be less applicable to highly experienced players, but for those who are still learning the ropes, following this rule will be vital.
4 Play It Cool
Let's face it; the Gulag is a highly intense, and stressful, environment. This results in many players making decisions that they normally wouldn't, sometimes even completely changing their playstyle!
While everyone could always improve, everyone typically has their own playstyle that they have found works best for them. Just because the Gulag is a more high-stakes match doesn't mean that players should be altering how they approach the task. Play it like any other gunfight, and you will find much more success!
3 Help From Above
Sometimes in Warzone the unfortunate happens, and both you and your teammate(s) will be sent to the gulag at the same time. Yea, that sucks, but there is some respite here! If you are lucky enough to spawn at the same gulag (there is more than one) your teammates can assist you!
The railing all around the map means that players on deck will have a view of 100% of the map, which creates a massive advantage for the teammate currently fighting. Make sure you collaborate with your team beforehand to create call-outs for every section of the map to make it easy to assist.
2 Nice Rock
In a sort of continuation of the previous tip, players should keep in mind that rocks can be used for more than just spamming innocent bystanders with a barrage of stones! Throwing rocks down at players in the Gulag can pinpoint their exact location for teammates, acting as a sort of ping!
A well-placed toss can also set off claymores and proximity mines, potentially saving the life of anyone unfortunate enough to approach! Then, there's the fact that the rocks do a single point of damage. The odds of actually getting a kill this way are slim to none, but if you happen to do so, send proof down our way!
1 Equipment Carries Over
Obviously, winning the fight is the most important aspect of the Gulag. However, it definitely doesn't hurt to prepare for the potential redeployment after! Anything that the player has on their person will follow them back into Al Mazrah, so be on the lookout for strong gear!
While there isn't too much in terms of powerful loot to be found in the Gulag, there are usually a couple of 3-plate vests scattered around! These are the holy grail of the Gulag, often meaning the difference between life and death, so be sure not to miss out! Just don't forget to plate up after your victory.
