Infinity Ward and Raven Software have confirmed that Season 3 of Warzone 2.0 will see the return of the popular plunder game mode, as well as the debut of a new ranked mode.

Yesterday saw the launch of Season 2 for both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0, but the developers wasted no time in confirming a few details for the launch of Season 3. Although there's no firm release date for the launch of Call of Duty's next season, the recently released patch notes for Season 2 did confirm a few details for Season 3.

Found at the very bottom of the patch notes is a heading titled, "Season 3 Confirmed." Infinity Ward then issued a short statement saying, "Our teams are hard at work on Season 03 and beyond, and we’re excited to share some of the awesome new content ahead." The studio then went on to confirm the arrival of three highly requested modes.

First up was the confirmation that the popular multiplayer mode, gunfight, will be launching in Modern Warfare 2 with Season 3. Infinity Ward said that new maps will be added to the gunfight rotation with each season. The statement then goes on to confirm that plunder, another fan favorite mode from the original Warzone, will be debuting in Warzone 2.0 next season.

Infinity Ward ended the preview of Season 3 with a bang, by confirming a feature fans have been begging for since launch - a ranked mode for Warzone 2.0. Specific details on how the ranked mode will work is yet to be confirmed, but considering the launch of Season 2 took place less than 24 hours ago, it could still be some time until new details are shared.

The patch notes also confirmed the existence of a mid-season update for Season 2, which is expected to arrive towards the middle of March. "Players can look forward to a brand-new RAID episode, new Multiplayer Modes, a new 6v6 Multiplayer map, and more," Infinity Ward confirmed.
