Activision's hugely successful Battle Royale title, Call of Duty: Warzone, will reportedly be rebranded to 'Warzone Caldera' later this year once the next iteration of the series launches.The news comes from industry insider and leaker, Tom Henderson, who took to Twitter saying, "Warzone will be renamed to Warzone Caldera on November 28th". The leaker also states that the original Warzone will continue to receive new updates and DLC, even after the release of Warzone 2.Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will release on October 28th, but the new iteration of Warzone isn't expected to launch until a few weeks later. An exact release date for the new Battle Royale hasn't been confirmed by Activision, but with the special COD Next showcase right around the corner, an announcement is likely imminent.COD Next will take place on September 15th and will be "an era-defining franchise event showcasing the immediate future of Call of Duty", according to Activision's announcement. The event can be live streamed by fans and will showcase the imminent future of Call of Duty, including details regarding Modern Warfare II, the next Call of Duty: Warzone, and the mobile version of Call of Duty: Warzone.
Activision also confirmed that a full multiplayer reveal for Modern Warfare II will be featured at the event, with the early access beta kicking off on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 the following day. Players who pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will be able to play a beta version of the game's Multiplayer prior to its full release in October.
Henderson also replied to fellow leaker, TheGhostOfHope, who said that "I think we might be allowed to play Warzone II during the beta next weekend... Not 100% on this". However, Henderson quickly shut down the claim, replying "I don't think there's a BETA for Warzone 2".
