Watch Cloud’s Bike from Final Fantasy VII in Final Fantasy XIV, but You Can’t Have it

If you like Final Fantasy VII and play Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, I’m about to break your heart.

During the latest Producer Letter Live, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Producer and Director Naoki Yoahida showcased Cloud’s bike from Final Fantasy VII, modeled and functional in the game. You can see the video below, courtesy of MysticGamer.

Unfortunately,  Yoshida-san clarified that the project has been scrapped for the moment, because the bike felt too slow at the other mounts’ speed. Making it go faster is also unfeasible, because the streaming engine doesn’t support that kind of speed, causing popups and even characters falling through the ground. An implementation of the bike would require those problems to be solved first, and it isn’t an easy task.
