After players were introduced to the world of DedSec in 2014's original Watch Dogs, the well-received sequel Watch Dogs 2 expanded the series' scope to the bright and sunny locale of San Francisco, with players now able to enjoy several hours of gameplay in a free demo on consoles.

Ubisoft has announced through a new trailer that a free game demo of Watch Dogs 2 is now available for PS4 owners to try out the game, while the demo will release for Xbox One owners next week on January 24th, 2017. The demo opens up a 3-hour trial for players to enjoy the entirety of its open-world in either single-player or multiplayer after downloading it.

Watch Dogs 2 released last November as a follow-up to the original, and (largely) addressed many of the criticisms that players of the first game had by introducing a more compelling and likable protagonist and characters, and overall more lighthearted and fun tone, and a rich, detailed open-world thanks to the move to San Francisco for the sequel.

For more of our thoughts on the game you can also read the review from our own Giuseppe Nelva, who gave the game an 8.0 score and highlighted its refined hacking abilities and the fun open-world that Ubisoft have created in their follow-up to the original title.

Watch Dogs 2 is available now for PS4, Xbox One, and PC - for more info on the newly-released demo and to check out the game in action, you can check out a new trailer from Ubisoft:
