A lack of interest in mature titles on the Wii U means that Watch Dogs will likely be the last “mature” title Ubisoft publishes on the console, CEO Yves Guillemot has said.
[Watch Dogs] is coming to Wii U. It will be the only mature game we publish on it
Compared to the other consoles, the Wii U wasn’t bringing in numbers, Guillemot said, stating that it had made up only 3% of sales over the last fiscal year.
What we see is that Nintendo customers don’t buy Assassin’s Creed. Last year, we sold in very small numbers.
However, Guillemot stated that the Just Dance series was still doing well, particularly on the Wii. In the face of this, Guillemot said, Ubisoft is changing its approach to Nintendo’s consoles.
What we see is that they are very interested in Just Dance, very interested by other kinds of games,” Guillemot says. “So what we are trying to do is to focus more on the types of games they are interested in
Guillemot also noted that Ubisoft was carefully evaluating EA’s Access program, and was considering a similar system for its own games.
