Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn‘s first expansion Heavensward will introduce flying mounts to the game, as announced today during the keynote of the Fan Festival in London.

Below you can see the first video of the black chocobo mount in action. The mount will allow players to seamlessly transition between running on the ground and flying at the pressure of a key, and to soar the skies everywhere in the expansion areas, finding rare monsters, treasure chests and even dungeons on floating islands.

In addition to it, you can also check out the first video glimpse n the city of Ishgard, which will serve as the focal point of the expansion, and on the other expansion areas.

I don’t know about you, but I know I can’t wait to explore the skies of Eorzea, and I’ve wanted to visit Ishgard since when I bumped against those locked gates on the first day of 1.0’s release (yeah, I walked all the way there as a crazy newbie). Can’t say it doesn’t blow anything else I’ve seen in a MMORPG out of the sky.
