Watch Star Citizen Break New Ground in Technology With its Impressive Multi Crew Demo

on August 7, 2015 3:01 PM

For years, I dreamt of a game that allowed multiple human players to move and interact independently on a ship flying through space.

Game engines don’t normally support that, because of limitations of how physics are handled. Yet, Chris Roberts and his team are breaking new ground in technology exactly on this feature with Star Citizen.

You can see it in action in the video at the bottom of the post.

You can pilot a ship, and have your friends act as crew members while you’re flying around. Not only they can man your guns, but they can walk around the deck and the cockpit, they can interact like they were on the ground, but they aren’t. They’re all flying through space with you.

You might not realize it, but it’s a big deal.
