Watch_Dogs Creative Director Explains Lack of Shadows in Latest Trailer, Confirms QR Code Puzzles
After the complaints about an alleged graphical downgrade of Watch_Dogs since its E3 2013 showing, each trailer is taken under the lens for visual flaws, and in yesterday’s video some characters were shown as not casting shadows (you can see it here, courtesy of Twitter user Word).
Creative Director Jonathan Morin was asked about that on Twitter, and about the fact that some cars seem to float slightly. He responded by mentioning that the floating cars are a bug and NPCs do cast shadows.

He then confirmed that the lack of NPC shadows may be a bug as well:
Yep, but no worry they do cast shadows… ; )
He finally mentioned that there are time and weather conditions in which indeed shadows are not present:
They are indeed plenty of possible no-shadows time/weather setup just like in real life : ).
This is quite interesting because it’s exactly the same explanation given by Sucker Punch about the lack of shadows in certain time conditions.
