Watch_Dogs was easily this year’s most anticipated title. Ever since it was revealed during E3 2012, everyone from gaming journalists to average gamers were clamoring to get their hands on it. It was finally released this Tuesday and sure enough, a lot of people picked it up. So many that it has earned the highest day one sales of any Ubisoft game ever.
Creative Director Jonathan Morin had this to say:
I once said that the buzz around Watch Dogs was driven by the incredible passion of our early fans. Today we broke the record for the biggest first day sales in Ubisoft history. I can never say it enough: thank you everyone! We love you all for your passion and your creativity.
Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft said:
Watch Dogs is an amazing achievement and our teams should be proud that the creativity, innovation and long hours they invested in making this game are paying off. It’s great to see so many customers enjoy playing the game, and it shows that Watch Dogs has cracked the code for developing a new blockbuster IP and a thoroughly new-gen experience.
I’ve been playing the game myself for the past week and I can say that all of the praise that it is getting is justified. While it may not be the “next-gen” experience some hoped it would be, it is a very cool and fun game. Ultimately, that is what matters.
