UPDATE: During today's State of Play, Annapurna Interactive showed off Wattam and confirmed that the game will finally be releasing for PS4 in December 2019. A Q&A with Keita Takahashi was also posted on PlayStation Blog. Check out the trailer revealing its release month below:

There hasn't been much news on Wattam, the strange, colorful game from Annapurna Interactive and Katamari Damacy creator Keita Takahashi in quite some time, but it seems as though that could be ending soon.

Following the somewhat surprising release of Sayonara Wild Hearts last week, Annapurna said today via Twitter that it will have more information to share soon regarding the publisher's upcoming releases. The tweet in question features emojis of a hat, bomb, and green heart, all of which point back to Wattam being the game in question that will have information divulged.

Soon after the tweet was shared, Takahashi himself ended up quote tweeting the message and simply added a thinking emoji of his own as a comment. It's weird to glean information about upcoming releases based solely on emojis, but that's 2019, I guess.

If we're going to hear anything soon about Wattam, tomorrow's State of Play stream from PlayStation seems like a time when we might hear something. As of now, we know that The Last of Us Part II is the only game confirmed to appear in the showcase, but sneaking in a few minutes dedicated to Wattam seems feasible.

As of now, Wattam doesn't have a release date but it's planned to come to PS4 and PC upon arrival. Stay tuned tomorrow and we'll keep you posted if any further news comes about.
