Today, Microsoft showcased a new trailer for upcoming release We Happy Few during the 2018 Xbox E3 2018 Briefing. This news came alongside a variety of announcements, including Microsoft Studios' acquisition of Compulsion Games, the makers of We Happy Few. The game was announced to release on August 10, 2018.

The trailer showcased some of the characters that will be featured in We Happy Few, a game exploring a world in which individuals suppress their negative feelings with the ingestion of a drug called Joy. Taking cues from dystopian stories like Brave New World and Nineteen Eighty-Four, the game explores what will happen to these "Downers", who refuse to take the drug.

This particular trailer featured a number of playable characters: Arthur, Sam Lowry, and Uncle Jack, all of whom refuse to take Joy for a variety of reasons. We Happy Few’s first mainstream spotlight came during Microsoft’s press conference at E3 2016, so it's fitting to see the game receive its release date at a similar event. As stated before, the game was announced to release on August 10, 2018 and will be arriving on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
