Weekend DealShockers: Double Deal for Steam and Apogee on GoG
This weekend sees some very good games go on sale. Steam’s doubled up their weekend deals and GoG has put a handful of old school Apogee games up as well. Hit the jump to see the ridiculous deals for this weekend.
Normally $50, Civilization V is on sale on Steam for 75% off, or $12.50. Even better, the digital deluxe version, with an extra Civilization, behind the scenes video and the game’s soundtrack, is also on sale for 75% off, or $15. Steam also has several games in the Need for Speed series for sale this weekend. One of my personal favorite racing games of the last few years, a game that nearly flawlessly blended sim and arcade styles of racing, Need for Speed: Shift 2 Unleashed, is on sale for 50% off for $15. Shift 2’s similarly excellent predecessor, Need for Speed: Shift is on sale for only $5 of your hard earned cash, or 75% off the normal price of $20. Need for Speed’s return to its roots in Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit is 66% off of its usual price and will only cost you $10.20 this weekend. Finally, Need for Speed: Undercover is on sale for only $2.50, 75% off of its standard price.
Next up on the deals radar is GOG. This weekend, Apogee games are featured at half-off and will run you 2.99. Duke Nukem 3D: Atomic Edition highlights this weekend, particularly because it highlights an era when Duke was still king and his games were still a blast to play. Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project is rounds out the Duke games on sale. Another classic FPS from back in the day is also on sale, before there was Insomniac and their amazing skill at creating unique weapons, there was Rise of the Triad. Rise of the Triad featured some awesome weapons. It was one of the first games where dual-wielding pistols was a viable option, but even better was the awesome “hand of god” weapon which, if I recall correctly, literally erased your enemies from existence in a burst of light. Finally, classic shooters based on the Wolfenstein 3D engine, Blake Stone: Planet Strike and Blake Stone: Aliens of Gold are each on sale as well.
An awful lot of great games are really cheap this weekend, which only adds to the chaos of this fall!
