Weekend DealShockers: Star Wars. Lots of Star Wars

on September 17, 2011 6:00 PM

This weekends deals are pretty much overshadowed by Steam.  Star Wars is having a franchise sale on the digital download service that encompasses almost all of the great Star Wars games of the last decade or so.  Unfortunately, X-Wing and Tie Fighter are still not up there yet, but plenty of other great games are.

There are a total of 13 games in the Star Wars pack that is on sale for 50% off of the normal $100 price tag.  And some of the games included are very good.  Battlefront II, Dark Forces, Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith, Republic Commando, Starfighter, The Clone Wars: Republic Heroes, The Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition, The Force Unleashed II, Knights of the Old Republic and Empire at War: Gold Pack.  That is 13 mostly excellent games for the price of one this weekend.

Individually, a few of the individual titles from the pack are on sale for 50% off as well.  Star Wars Battlefront II is on sale for $4.99.  The awesome and totally underrated Star Wars Republic Commando is also $4.99.  Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is $4.99.  Finally, Star Wars Empire at War: Gold Pack is on sale for $10.  Even if you don’t want the pack, Knights of the Old Republic is potentially the single best Star Wars game ever, really only rivaled by the X-Wing games.  If you don’t yet own it, now is a great time to buy it.  In addition, Republic Commando was the best thing to come out of the prequels, and aside from being surprisingly deep, it happens to be an incredibly fun team based shooter, with some awesome levels and characters.  For $5, you really can’t go wrong with either of those two titles, assuming you don’t want to get the whole pack, which includes the classic Jedi Knight games.

Scott just graduated from Law School. But he didn't let that stop him from gaming, a hobby that he has stuck with ever since he received his NES at age 5. His favorites are Metal Gear Solid, OutRun, Half-Life, Deus Ex, Ratchet and Clank and most recently, the Mass Effect series.
