Western Release for Final Fantasy Type-0 in Question?

According to one report, Western gamers may be waiting quite a while – perhaps even indefinitely – for a release of SquareEnix’s latest PSP Final Fantasy title. It seems Yoshinori Kitase, the game’s producer, had some unsettling words to say about the possibility of a title’s western release. Most of it seems to be because of the differences in how popular the PSP is in Japan compared to its status and proliferation in the west.

“As you may know very well, with the PSP market, the situation is very different in Japan than outside of Japan. We are having to be very very careful in how we decide what would be the best way to deliver the game to all the gamers.”

That’s what Kitase-san had to say when questioned last week at E3 about the possibility of the game’s Western release. Final Fantasy Type-0 seems to be shaping up to be an interesting and unique take on the Final Fantasy XIII universe, so it would be a shame if the title doesn’t make it across the Pacific.
