Minecraft is a sandbox game, so exploring the world to find various items is quite a crucial part of the game. Obviously, the path to exploration won't be straightforward and will be filled with dangerous mobs which will make your life difficult. If you find a nice item but for some reason, you end up dying, it can be quite a bit of a problem since finding the location back again could be quite a bit of a hassle.

Thankfully, after the latest update, this will no longer be a problem. If you have the Recovery Compass when you die after your respawn you will easily be able to get the location of your death. This device will point towards the place where you died, so you should be able to get back there in no time. If you are not able to see any particular direction in the compass, that means that you have just crafted it and are yet to die. Moreover, if you are in a different dimension, you will not be able to see a direction.

When it comes to making a Recovery Compass, you can do so by combining a regular compass with 8 Echo Shards. To make a regular compass, you need 4 iron ingots and Redstone dust. Put them in the crafting table to get the Regular Compass, and then use the echo shards to get the recovery compass.
