Updated by James Austin on November 30, 2022: Animal Crossing is an enduring classic, and New Horizons is a worthy entry in the series. With the 2.0 update, we saw the return of ordinances, originally featured in New Leaf. Despite this update launching over a year ago, New Horizons remains a popular title. To assist new players seeking information on the Bell Boom Ordinance, we've added more precise information on its specific effects

What Is The Bell Boom Ordinance

What Is Bell Boom Ordinance In Animal Crossing New Horizons

There are four total ordinances in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Each ordinance affects how the town operates in a slightly different way. Enforcing any of the ordinances will cost you 20,000 Bells. Keep in mind that there can only be one ordinance in effect at a time, and an active Ordinance can be canceled for free.

The Bell Boom Ordinance, also known as the Wealthy Ordinance, increases both buying and selling prices by exactly 20%, effectively "inflating" the entire economy of the village. For example, if you were to sell a red snapper, which would normally net you 3,000 Bells, you would instead receive 3,600 Bells. Keep in mind that this goes both ways. Items in Tom Nook's shop, Re-tail, and even the souvenirs at Tortimer Island will all become 20% more expensive.

Another effect of the ordinance is that it increases the size of the premium item list at Re-Tail, from one to two.

How To Use Bell Boom Ordinance

The Bell Boom Ordinance is useful for wealthy players, and those who are looking to upgrade their house, since the mortgage price stays the same no matter what. Players who frequently harvest bugs and fish from Tortimer Island will quickly be able to recoup their losses in terms of Bells spent enacting the ordinance. Trust us, the price increase is totally worth it.

Overall, Bell Boom is our favorite of all the Ordinances in New Horizons. When we aren't ruining our sleep schedule with the Night Owl Ordinance, we're always using Bell Boom.
