Dontnod surprised all Vampyr fans today with a special next-gen update that is now live and makes the game feel and play much better on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

Originally launched back in 2018, Vampyr was a pretty different project from Dontnod compared to the studio's narrative-driven titles such as Life Is Strange.

Despite having a rich story and a dark and haunting atmosphere, Vampyr didn't turn into a success for Dontond due to its multiple technical issues and an unfavorable combat design.

That being said, the game never fell short in delivering a story and a world that every choice of the player could change and add an unexpected twist.

What's Included in Vampyr Next-gen Update?

As a huge surprise for Vampyr fans, the game received an enhancement update today for both current-gen and next-gen consoles. With this update, you can run Vampyr on 1440p resolution at up to 60 FPS. Below, you can check out the enhancement impact on each platform:

  • PS5: 1440p / 60 FPS
  • PS4 Pro: 1440p / 30FPS
  • Xbox Series X: 1440p / 60 FPS
  • Xbox Series S: 1440p / 30FPS
  • Xbox One X: 1296p / 30 FPS

As far as we know, there is no such update for the PC or Nintendo Switch versions of the game at the moment.

Now, it remains unknown whether this update would fix any bugs in the game or not, but the occasional frame-rate drop was one of the infamous problems of the game since launch, and hopefully, this update could fix it.

Dontnod has never expressed any intentions for a sequel to Vampyr. However, this surprising enhancement update might be a promising step forward for re-visiting the plagued Victorian London once again. So, just don't give up your hopes.
