After months of rumors and speculation, the incredibly popular Roblox is all set to receive a voice chat feature within the title's many different user-created games.

It comes as no surprise as voice chat has been a heavily requested feature for a significant time now. This is in no small part due to the fact that many of the games within Roblox focus on online play, including some of the most popular titles like Adopt Me, a pet collecting simulator.

When the announcement was made, it was stated that Roblox would be receiving something called "Spatial Voice" but what exactly does that mean? Let's take a look in more detail.

Is There A Release Date For Voice Chat in Roblox?

Currently, there isn't an official release date for voice chat in Roblox, however, in the official press release, the company outlined a few details.

It stated that "Spatial Voice as an invitation-only beta to selected members of our developer community" meaning that only a handful of developers within the Roblox space are currently able to test out the feature.

Other than that though, there was no further information on a release date.

So What Is Spatial Voice In Roblox Voice Chat?

As the Roblox creators are looking to develop the Metaverse, they have tried to create an extremely realistic voice chat functionality - named Spatial Voice.

With many of the Roblox games having open-world hub areas, Spatial Voice essentially means that players can hear conversations that are happening close to their in-game character but won't be able to hear those that are happening far away clearly, if at all.

This is, of course, much like the real world, with humans hearing what's going on close to them but not further away.

This means, if players want to have a conversation with another player, they'll likely have to remove themself from the bustling areas and head off somewhere quieter in order for things to be clear.
