What Is Vow Renouncing War In AOT?
The vow starts with the 145th King Fritz who inherited the power of the Founding Titan. After hundreds and hundreds of years of fighting and suppressing other nations with the power of the Titans, King Fritz was tired from the devastation his ancestors brought open the world. So in order to stop this violence, Karl Fritz swore a vow that we call the "Vow Renouncing War".
King Fritz moved to Paradis Island along with many of the Eldian people. He then used the power of the Founding Titan and ordered his Colossus Titans to build three walls where he and his people could live the rest of their life in peace. After building these walls, he took the Vow Renouncing War.
According to this vow taken by Karl Fritz with the Founding Titan, if any outsider ever tried to attack the Paradis island, the Founding Titan will not be able to use his powers and the people of Paradis will accept it as their fate and atone for the sins of their past.
The king's vow was so strong that all the royal blood inheritors of the Founding Titan were bound by the same vow as the memories of the Vow Renouncing War lived inside them throughout their life.
But as the king wanted himself and his people to live in peace, he announced to the world that if anyone ever tried to intrude on the peace of Paradis, millions and millions of titans in the wall will start the rumbling and destroy the entire world.
