Last year, Marvel fans finally got a glimpse of the upcoming standalone Black Widow movie. The movie was set to release in May 2020; however, the release date got delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, Black Widow is scheduled to release on July 9, 2021. And recently, Marvel released the final trailer of the first movie in Phase 4 of the MCU.

After witnessing Natasha Romanoff's fate in Avengers: Endgame, fans wonder precisely when the Black Widow movie takes place. Well, this is all we know about the Black Widow movie's timeline.

Black Widow Movie Timeline

Obviously, the Black Widow movie's events will happen way before Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, but exactly when? According to David Harbour's (Red Guardian) interview with IGN, Black Widow will occur between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War's events.

After Civil War, Natasha Romanoff was on the run along with Steve Rogers (Captain America), Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier), and Sam Wilson (Falcon). Also, there were almost two years of gap between the events of 'Civil War' and 'Infinity War.' So, it only makes sense for Black Widow to visit her past during that gap when there were no aliens to fight.

According to some rumors, we might see Tony Stark (Iron Man) appearing in Black Widow due to that particular timeline.

However, we can't put a pin on Tony Stark or Clint Barton's (Hawkeye) cameo in the movie just yet. I guess we'll have to wait a couple of months to get all the answers.

Black Widow Movie Cast

Of course, Scarlett Johansson takes the role of Black Widow in the upcoming movie, probably for the last time. Moreover, Florence Pugh will play Black Widow's sister, Yelena Belova, and David Harbour will take the role of Red Guardian. Other than that, Rachel Weisz, William Hurt, and O-T Fagbenle will also star in the Black Widow movie. You can see the movie's entire cast here.
