When Does the McDonald's Pokemon Card Promo End? What is the End Date?
Here's when the Pokemon Promo could end.
The McDonald’s Pokemon Card promotion whipped the US into a frenzy. Celebrating 25 years of everybody’s favourite Pocket Monsters, the two companies teamed up to release a special set of Pokemon Cards that were given out free with Happy Meals. With the Pokemon Trading Card market at an all-time high, collectors and scalpers alike rushed down to the Golden Arches to grab some cards. The set was available from the start of February, but many people have asked When Does the Mcdonald’s Pokemon Card Promo End? Let’s investigate.
What cards are available in the set?
The set contains 25 different Pokemon Trading Cards in both non-holo and holo forms, meaning there are 50 unique cards in total to collect. The cards are reprints from previous sets that contain a special holo print and original 25th-anniversary logo. The full set is as follows:
Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Pikachu, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile, Mudkip, Torchic, Treecko, Chimchar, Piplup, Turtwig, Oshawott, Snivy, Tepig, Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Litten, Popplio, Rowlet, Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble.
How much did the cards sell for?
At their peak, the limited Pokemon Trading Cards sold for huge sums of money. Sales of full cases of 150 packs sold for over $1,100 on auction site eBay, with complete sets topping $400 and shiny Pikachu’s topping $100. Prices levelled out a little after The Pokemon Company increased production, but single cards can still sell for upwards of $40-$50.

When does the McDonald’s Pokemon Card promo end?
Neither The Pokemon Company nor McDonald’s have given an official end date for the promo yet, but there are a few things we can deduce.
According to the official Pokemon website, the promotion will only be running for “a limited time” – while this is obvious, “limited time” usually isn’t too long. Further to this, a message on the McDonald’s UK site states that the company has a variety of Happy Meal promotions every year, “each lasting for between 5-7 weeks. If the US McDonald’s is the same, the likely end date would be around the middle of March.
Another section on Google states “We have about 10 Happy Meal promotions each year, each lasting around 4 -8 weeks”, however, due to my UK location, it’s hard to confirm if this is the US site. Either way, that would still suggest the promotion will finish around mid-late March. This promotion could be extended though, due to the lack of stock at the start, however, it does say “while stocks last”.

There you have it, while we don’t have official confirmation, we would estimate the McDonald’s Pokemon Card promo ends somewhere around the later part of March. We will update you as soon as we get official confirmation.
