Animation studio changes between seasons

Another thing to keep in mind: how the studios behind the 7 Deadly Sins anime has changed. Let's take a look at the series' history first.

Nanatsu no Taizai is originally a manga series written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki, which started its serialization in Shonen Jump in 2012. The medieval, fantasy themed shounen manga follows Meliodas (voiced by Yuki Kaji). The Sin of Wrath and the leader of the titular Seven Deadly Sins, legendary knights.

Nanatsu no Taizai: Fundo no Shinpan, known as The Seven Deadly Sins: Dragon's Judgement, is the fifth season of the anime (fourth in Japan). The first season aired in 2014 .

While the first seasons were animated by Studio A-1 Pictures, starting 2019, the series was switched over to Studio Deen. Which resulted in much lower animation quality.

  • MORE ANIME - Everything we know on Madoka Magica movie 4

Studio Deen, while known for numerous memorable anime series, has always been infamous for being shoddy. And that's regardless of which directors and animators end up working on their shows.

Many fans have been disappointed with the Nanatsu anime's animation quality since the change. However, the series still has a decent following, and Season 5 is always worth watching for at least the voice acting.

Last but not least, a new trailer for the movie has been released. Keep in mind you should only watch it after actually having seen Season 5, unless you're up to date with the manga. The trailer features the movie's theme song, sung by Japanese band Porno Graffiti and composed by Hiroyuki Sawano. A special stream with the seiyuu is also coming on June 30.
