It's quite wonderful when a game title says it all just by itself. Enter When Ski Lifts Go Wrong, an utterly ridiculous name for an equally ridiculous constructor game. After being in early access on Steam, Curve Digital and Hugecalf Studios released the game on Nintendo Switch. The news came out as part of the Nintendo Europe Indie Highlights presentation.

Players will attempt to get skiers, snowboarders, or snowmobile users from one side to the other, putting together infrastructure as a pathway for them. With "realistic physics" come "realistic disasters"—prepare for some silly-looking, gnarly, and bloody wipeouts. Along with ramps and floors and whatnot, players can also make use of chairlifts and gondolas.

As with the Steam version, the Switch version of When Ski Lifts Go Wrong will also come with summer-themed levels. Gone are the snow and its associated extreme sports, and in their place are a motorbike and a bicycle. In a way, this game is practically Trials with bridge constructor elements in it. And with so much hilarity to be had in this physics-based game, it only makes sense for the Switch version to support the screenshot and video capture system of the console.

A press release included this statement from Jonny Hughes, Producer and Game Designer for Hugecalf Studios:

When Ski Lifts Go Wrong features some of the most realistic physics around, much to the chagrin of all the virtual skiers we tortured to perfect this. After more than two years of development, we’re constantly finding new ways to torment the denizens of these doomed slopes.”

From Simon Byron, Publishing Director at Curve Digital:

“Seeing the response When Ski Lifts Go Wrong has had on Early Access has us stoked to release it not only on Steam, but Switch as well. We’d recommend maybe not playing it on a ski lift though.”

For the commercial launch of When Ski Lifts Go Wrong, the game is currently available at a 15% discount, with additional promotions for owners of Curve Digital's Human: Fall Flat. On Steam, users can purchase a bundle of the two games appropriately titled "When Ski Lifts Fall Flat" at a 34% discount.

Other than this game, highlights from the Nintendo of Europe presentation included indie titles like Double Kick Heroes, Wargroove, Forager, and Goat Simulator. Check out the launch trailer for When Ski Lifts Go Wrong below, along with a handful of screenshots from the Nintendo Switch version.
