Ubisoft has started a poll on their official Watch_Dogs Facebook page, asking fans who they would want to play Aiden Pierce should the upcoming game be made into a feature film. Normally, a post like this on a social media site would be easily dismissed as simply a bit of speculation and a way to get the community involved. However, there is some evidence to suggest that Ubisoft may have serious desires to get involved in the making of a Watch_Dogs film: back in June of last year, numerous domains for a Watch_Dogs feature film were registered, and film adaptations of prominent Ubisoft intellectual properties such as Splinter Cell and Assassin’s Creed are in active development, with Michael Fassbender attached to the latter.
So far, at the time of this posting, 30% of fans have voted for Tom Cruise, 21% for Robert Downey Jr., 20% for Edward Norton, and 14% for Ryan Gosling. Other names on the list include Tobey Maguire, Henry Cavill, Paul Walker, Clive Owen, Andrew Garfield, and Brad Pitt. My personal choice was Clive Owen.
Watch_Dogs is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal alongside Ubisoft Reflections and will be published by Ubisoft for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U this holiday season.
