Life is Strange: True Colors has finally been revealed at this year’s Square Enix Presents showcase. The upcoming game is being developed by Life is Strange: Before the Storm studio Deck Nine, formerly known as Idol Minds up until 2017.

The beautiful trailer allowed players to see the game’s setting in an all-new location that included new characters, narrative, and, of course, a spanking new supernatural power. But who is the bearer of these powers and what do we know about them so far?

Who is Alex Chen?

Alex, played by Erika Mori, is the new main character, or the protagonist if you will, of Life is Strange: True Colors. Alex had been placed into the foster system and after eight years, she’s finally reunited with her brother Gabe in a sleepy but beautiful place called Haven where she hopes to finally call home. After a terrible accident, Gabe dies and Alex must learn to manage without him but also to find out exactly what happened to him as a mysterious tale unfolds.

For those who have played Life is Strange: Before the Storm, you may recognise one of Alex’s new friends, Steph, as she once more makes an appearance in the Life is Strange series.

What is Alex’s Supernatural Powers?

Alex has the ability to feel other people’s emotions strongly but has suppressed this power she has called a “curse” inside for a long time. She’s also gifted with the ability to read minds when her empathy levels become high. These powers allow Alex to experience, consume and control the emotions of people she meets which appear to her as coloured auras around their bodies. This will be particularly helpful when trying to figure out the circumstances around her brother’s death.

Release date and Platforms for Life is Strange: True Colors

Life is Strange: True Colors will arrive on September 10th, 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and Stadia. Additionally, fans will get their hands on a Life is Strange: Remastered Collection that will land at some stage this year.

The collection will feature remastered versions of Life is Strange and Before the Storm that will give players improved visuals and animations. You will be able to purchase the remastered collection as either a standalone deal or as part of the Life is Strange: True Colors Ultimate Edition.
