Who's The Voice Actor for Yuffie Kisaragi in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade?

Yuffie still has the same voice in Japanese.

Square Enix officially revealed new details for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade on PS5, most notably announcing Yumi Kakazu as the Japanese voice actor for Yuffie Kisaragi. This isn’t a surprise for FF7 fans for several reasons. But first, it’s important to quickly explain the seiyuu industry in Japan.

Seiyuu – Japanese voice actresses and actors – are rarely ever replaced in Japan. If a seiyuu voiced a certain character in an anime or game, they will be called back to voice the character again in a new work. Even if years have passed. Unless they’re sick, sadly passed away, or committed some sort of crime, the seiyuu’s agency will be contacted and the seiyuu will reprise the role.

Needless to say, the original Final Fantasy VII was not voiced. However, from Ehrgeiz to Kingdom Hearts, several games included voices for the FF7 cast, and the seiyuu have stuck with them since. Cloud is voiced by Takahiro Sakurai ever since the first KH game in 2002.

Since the middle of the 90s, it also became common for seiyuu to simultaneously pursue a musical career, some of them reaching status similar to jpop idols. And what brought forth the current idol seiyuu system. I could tell you more, but basically, all of this established the seiyuu as an important part of the characters for fans. And Japanese companies like Square Enix obviously know that.

While the seiyuu industry isn’t free of issues, this is definitely a plus compared to other countries, when voice actresses and actors aren’t given as much importance. I could tell tell you a lot about the French dubbing industry.

After Square Enix revealed Yuffie’s profile, Yumi Kakazu also shared some comments on Twitter. We translated them below.

Yumi Kakazu: “My role got announced~ I’ve been voicing her for a long time, since Ehrgeiz in 1998. Please be nice to her”.

Anyways, this is why most FF7 fans could tell who would voice Yuffie in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade. There was no way Yumi Kakazu would be replaced. Sadly, Square Enix did not announce yet who the English voice actor of Yuffie is.

Yumi Kakazu also voices Ethlyn in Fire Emblem Heroes (hoping Nintendo makes a FE4 remake), Kula Diamond in KOF, Seolla in Super Robot Wars, among other roles.

If you haven’t yet, be sure to check everything we know about Episode Yuffie in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade‘s release date is set for June 10, 2021, on PS5.
