The event was focused on the upcoming expansion, The Witch Queen, and we learned some interesting stuff about it.

  • 1700 UTC– Update 4.0.0.1 will be available across all platforms and regions.Players will be able to log back into Destiny 2.Sign-in to the Bungie.net site and apps will be re-enabled.Players logging into the game may be placed in a queue and may experience sign-on issues as background maintenance is still ongoing.
  • 1800 UTC- Destiny 2 maintenance is expected to conclude.Players who observe issues should report to the #Help forum.

However, it seems like players will need to wait a lot more in order to play the game. The maintenance is complete, but players are still facing issues while playing the game. Due to the high number of players playing the game, players will be facing frequent queues while playing the game. It is not quite advisable to wait in a queue as sometimes it takes hours to get past that, so your best bet is to try after a bit.
