Chapter 2 of Fortnite has officially come to an end, which means that the game's servers have been taken down today (December 4) for a prolonged period of time. There's no need to worry though as Fortnite will be returning in Chapter 3.

Another epic Fortnite live event is in the books, and a new chapter is upon us. Unfortunately, similar to when Chapter 1 came to an end, fans won't be able to play Fortnite for a few days.

Why Is Fortnite Down? (December 4)

The Fortnite servers were taken down today (December 4) for some scheduled server maintenance to prepare for the release of Chapter 3 Season 1.

During downtime, users will be unable to play Fortnite Battle Royale. But the good news is that when the servers are brought back online, a whole new Chapter begins with plenty of new content, skins, and a brand new map.

Chapter 2 ended with 'The End', a one-time Live Event that saw players take on The Cube Queen in a final bid to save the Island. But now all there is to do is look forward to Chapter 3.

When Will Fortnite Servers Be Back Online?

UPDATE: There is still yet to be any official confirmation from Epic Games for the beginning of Chapter 3, but according to HYPEX, downtime will end at 10AM ET on Sunday, December 5th.

This has yet to be made official, so take this information with a pinch of salt. We will continue to keep you updated.

ORIGINAL STORY: We're still waiting for official details from Epic Games surrounding the length of the server downtime, but it is rumoured to be lasting until Tuesday, December 7th, 2021.

This means the Fortnite servers will be down for a total of 3 days, from December 4th to December 7th.
