Rain Games, the developer behind the game World to the West, has announced via Twitter, that the Wii U version of the game has been delayed at least for a little bit.

The reason given for the delay, was so that the developer could optimize the performance of the Wii U version "dramatically." They said they have found a way to do this, however it needs additional time to add it to the game.

As of the time of this writing, the developer has not given a new release date for the Wii U version, other than that the delay will hold back the release for a few weeks. Rain Games did confirm that the PS4, Xbox One, and PC versions are all still coming out next week on May 5th, 2017. You can check out their full statement below:

We've got some good news and some bad news:

The good news is we found a few ways to optimize the performance of the Wii U build of World to the West dramatically!

The bad news is that it will take a while to implement across the whole game, so we've chosen to delay the Wii U release of the game for a few weeks until we can deliver the game in its best possible state. We're not happy to keep the Wii U users waiting, but we figured it's better to release the game in a smooth state rather than releasing a patch later on and giving early adopters a less polished experience. Even with patches, first impressions matter, and we want you to have something nice to play on the Wii U after you've finished exploring every inch of Breath of the Wild!

Rest assured, the game is still coming out on the Wii U (we love that darn thing), and we'll let you know as soon as we've set a new release date. As for the PS4, Xbox One, and Win/Mac/Linux versions of the game, they will all be out next week on May 5th.

World to the West's release date was originally announced back in March.
