Eastward physical version announced by iam8bit, release predictions

Publisher iam8Bit announced right after the release of Eastward that it will be releasing a physical version at some point. The announcement was first made on Twitter, and future details will be coming through the iam8bit newsletter. No price or release date for the physical version of Eastward was shared yet.

However, if you take a look at past projects from iam8bit, such as Spiritfarer‘s physical release, we can make some predictions. The physical edition was released on August 2, 2021, around one year after the game was first released on August 18, 2020. And the physical limited version will be shipping in the first three months of 2022. So you could expect a similar timeframe for the physical version of Eastward. It’s likely the physical version will be coming in late 2022.

The problem is whether you’ll be able to wait that long for the physical edition of Eastward to release or grab the digital version right now to play it. We’ve been waiting for years for that game to release though, so a few more months of wait shouldn’t be too much of a problem. If you can afford it, you can always buy both versions too. Keep in mind this is just a guess too, and it might take only a few months for iam8bit to launch the physical version. In any case, register for the newsletter and wait for the news.

Japanese standard and limited physical editions

Last but not least, note that a physical edition and a collector edition of Eastward were announced by Kakehashi Games, but only in Japan. For 4400 and 8250 Yen (Tax included) respectively. They’ll release on November 25. The Japanese version of the game includes the English localization. There are shop-specific preorder bonuses too, be sure to check them before importing.

If you haven’ heard about Eastward, it’s a single-player experience, with around 30 hours of gameplay containing dungeons, puzzle-solving action, and even mini-games. You can expect a pretty nice and refreshing solo old-school adventure. There is no online mode.

Eastward is available since September 16, 2021, on Steam, the Nintendo Switch Eshop, GOG, and Humble Bundle.
