The entire manga community has been mourning the passing away of Takao Saito, the legendary author of Golgo 13 manga. Saito was 84 years old, and he passed away because of Pancreatic Cancer. Shogakukan confirmed the sad news on Wednesday, September 29th, 2021.

Born in November 1936, Saito decided to become a manga artist after graduating from junior high school. He debuted with his first manga Baron Air in 1955 and went on to launch Saito production in 1960.

Saito launched Golgo 13 manga series back in 1968, making it the oldest manga that is still in publication. The author's work inspired two live-action movies, an anime series, video games, and an original video animation.

Golgo 13 is a legendary manga series that inspired a lot of people from around the world. So, it's no wonder that several fans want to know if the manga will continue after the passing away of Takao Saito.

Well, Shogakukan confirmed that Saito wanted Golgo 13 to continue without him. So, Saito production, a group of several talented manga creators, will continue working on Golgo 13. The editorial department at the Shogakukan's Big Comic magazine will also assist them in continuing Saito's work.

With more than 300 million copies in circulation, Golgo 13 is one of the best-selling Japanese manga. The series follows the adventures of Duke Togo, a professional assassin who has the entire world against him.

In 2013, Saito confirmed that he had no window planned to end the manga series. However, in fear of manga getting canceled, the author already created an ending with a panel layout.
