Star Wars fans, particularly of a Clone Wars persuasion, are wondering whether the Disney+ series The Bad Batch will address Cad Bane’s unaired showdown with Boba Fett, which ended ambiguously.

Clone Wars and Rebels producer Dave Filoni released the unaired clip between Bane and Fett during the ‘Animated Origins and Unexpected Fates’ panel as part of Star Wars Celebration in 2017.

Episode 6 of The Bad Batch, which aired at the start of the month, welcomed two Clone Wars characters into the mix, and fans have been discussing whether their arrival could revive Cad Bane in the franchise.

Who is Cad Bane?

Cad Bane is known as a Duros bounty hunter who was alive and kicking during the Clone Wars.

His reputation as one of the galaxy’s most-skilled bounty hunters lead him to have multiple melees with Jedi, including Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.

Bane also had a short-lived union with Darth Maul, and Palliduvan bounty hunter Aurra Sing.

What Happened During the Unaired Bane vs Boba Fett Clone Wars Scene?

Dave Filoni has a penchant for teasing the Star Wars community, and the unaired battle between Bane and Fett was not only a spectacle to watch, but it also created a thick air of uncertainty surrounding Bane’s survival.

During the scene, Boba Fett confronts Bane who is holding hostages. In addition to Bossk showing up to help out, Fett attempts to negotiate with Bane to let the hostages go. The scene ends with a western-styled shoot-out, resulting in both bounty hunters being shot.

Because we’ve seen Boba Fett appear after the events of the Clone Wars, it is safe to say he survived, but Bane has not been seen since.

How Could The Bad Batch Acknowledge Cad Bane's Battle with Boba Fett?

Spoilers Ahead

Update: Cad Bane has appeared in The Bad Batch's release of episode 8 today, confirming that the character is alive and well.

The Bad Batch episode 6 saw Clone Force 99 arrive at Han Solo’s planet Corellia in search of a tactical droid. The team are soon joined by Clone Wars characters Trace and Rafa Martez, who are also searching for the droid.

The sisters were introduced during Clone Wars season 7, and it’s known that their parents’ transport ship crashed at the hands of Cad Bane. The bounty hunter shot at the ship during his escape from the Order, which inevitably led to their demise.

While the sisters’ arrival doesn’t provide an immediate answer to Bane’s status, it does create a link to the character that could be followed. The Bad Batch could also acknowledge the unreleased clip which would confirm it as canon, or reintroduce the character as if the showdown never happened.

Since Bane’s death has not been confirmed by Filoni, there is enough reason to believe that he is still alive, and his story could be picked up again by The Bad Batch or a future project.
