Recently, Sony released a new trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, or Venom 2. Interestingly, the new trailer had some gore that has fans wondering if the much-awaited sequel will be Rated R; well, here's everything we know about it.

The first Venom moving starring Tom Hardy was released back in October 2018. Of course, the movie got mixed reviews; however, it certainly got fans excited for the sequel by introducing Carnage in the post-credit scene. The community can't wait to see Woody Harrelson's portrayal of the serial killer Cletus Kasady.

Well, this year, we are finally going to see more of Carnage in Venom 2; however, will the movie be rated R? Well, let's explore the possibility.

Gore in Venom 2's Latest Trailer

Interestingly, the second Venom 2: Let There be Carnage trailer gave us a better look at the supervillain. We saw the Symbiote taking over Cletus Kasady's body and bonding with his blood. Moreover, we can see Carnage's gory and violent side in the trailer and a constant mention of symbiotes eating humans.

In one scene, we even see Carnage putting its tongue inside a human's mouth. So, it's no wonder why people think that Venom 2 will be rated R.

Unfortunately, there's no official confirmation on venom 2's rating as of now. Like the previous trailer, the latest movie trailer also says that "this movie is not yet rated."

Will Venom 2 Be Rated R?

The first Venom movie in the franchise has a PG-13 rating. The chief reason for this is because Sony wants Venom and Spider-Man to face off in the future. With Spider-Man's popularity among the Under-13 crowd, it seems like Sony doesn't want to miss out on their market.

This came as a major surprise to most fans who would've ideally wanted to see Venom in an R-rated setting. Honestly, we doubt that Sony would want to give up its chances for a Venom x Spider-Man movie right now. Hence, Venom 2 also most likely won't be rated R. That's because regardless of the rating, the movie performed well at the box office, so it doesn't make sense for Sony to switch plans now.

However, as we've previously mentioned, the movie hasn't got a rating yet, so it's too soon to be sure about it. There is always a possibility that the movie might be Rated-R, especially when you look at the latest trailer.
