Windjammers is now available on Nintendo Switch in a surprise release. You can currently purchase the game via the Nintendo eShop for $14.99.

A Nintendo Switch port of Windjammers was announced earlier this year in August but with no release date. Dotemu made the surprise announcement earlier this morning with a release trailer showing off some VHS-quality live action scenes intermixed with gameplay clips.

This version is the same that released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in August of 2017 with online versus mode, two unlockable mini-games, and new HD menus. Windjammers was developed by Data East and published by SNK and released for the Neo Geo arcade system in 1994. After the shuttering of Data East the rights were acquired by Paon DP and delisted from Wii's Virtual Console in 2013. Now it is available again, with a sequel announced for Nintendo Switch and PC for 2019 release.

Windjammers is a fast-paced head-to-head arcade game where two players face off on a court, and throw discs at the opponent's goal zone to score points. The player with the most points wins. Originally released on the NEOGEO arcade system, Windjammers perfectly blends sports and fighting games. Sharpen your throwing and sliding skills, use the best techniques to defeat your opponents, and become the world’s best player!
