Hollie Bennett interviews The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s Gameplay Producer Marek Ziemak about the game’s combat, morality system and the size of the open world. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released in 2014 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

According to Ziemak, the game has been designed to be perfectly understood by those that have never played the first two games or read the novels. Since this is their first time creating a game for Playstation and their first outing on the next generation, the power differences between the console generations are huge and gives them new possibilities. The world in Witcher 3 is roughly 35 times larger than Witcher 2, which makes sense because the former is far more expansive and allows for greater exploration.

The morality system, called the Choices and Consequences System by the developers, features very grey morality and like the general themes of the game itself, players will often be forced to choose the lesser of two evils. Ziemak also hints that other characters will be making an appearance but is mum for now on which ones. Finally, the developers wanted to make sure that Witcher 3 keeps its RPG soul and game mechanics, while evolving the combat of the previous games.
