Last week we received a trailer outlining Danny O'Dwyer's latest crowdfunded documentary on Noclip that focuses on CD Projekt Red, specifically The Witcher series. Today, the first installment, titled "The Story of CD Projekt Red," was released. You can check out the documentary below.

The opening episode of the documentary takes place in the iconic city of Warsaw, Poland and features Marcin Iwiński, the co-founder of CD Projekt Red. The location is important to the documentary because of the very Slavic nature of The Witcher series' setting. Importantly though, the documentary focuses on the ideas of game design and distribution through the lens of the company.

Noclip has created documentaries before covering the ins and outs of game development, featuring subjects as Psyonix's Rocket League and the original incarnation of Final Fantasy XIV. The idea of these projects is to take an in-depth look at the video game industry in ways that the average gamer wouldn't think of. For me personally, it forces me to think critically not just about the games but about the climate in which the games exists, and that's just as important to a video game as the coding that makes them.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is currently available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC. For more on the game, you can read up on the recent PS4 Pro update here.
