Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty's official Twitter account is holding a contest to get players of the game's most recent demo to give their best advice on how to succeed in the maddeningly difficult soulslike, which is set to make its official premiere on March 3.

The second official demo for the game launched on Friday, February 24, and if you want a chance to get your hands on it before the official launch of the game, you've only got until tonight, February 26, at 11:59 Pacific Standard Time to play. The consensus from those who've played it is that, like any respectable soulslike, it's brutally punishing. Adding to the frustration for some players is that there are no difficulty settings. Possibly in an effort to help out struggling players who just want an easier dive into China's warring states period (now with zombies), the social media page is asking demo players to upload a 30-second clip or screenshot of the gameplay as well as their best piece of advice, with 10 winners to receive a free t-shirt.

Responses have been varied, with many giving legitimate advice while others have criticized the game's technical shortcomings. A select few more have simply taken the humorous route, such as YouTuber @GJX_, who simply posted the word "Advice," a crying-face emoji, and a cut-together montage of himself screaming in frustration as the demo's first boss, Zhang Liang, repeatedly kills him.

As for actual advice, many are pointing to the game's deflect mechanic as the best way to deal with the incredibly difficult boss battles. Wo Long features a block mechanic that can be held in to defend against most attacks, but it's mapped to a different button than the deflect action. Using deflect, players can time their button presses to stagger enemies, but if they press the button too early or too late, the enemy's attack will land, causing damage. Furthermore, both bosses and normal enemies can charge up and use critical attacks that will bypass the normal block function, leading some Twitter users to point out that it is possible to hold in the block button while still attempting to deflect, adding an extra layer of protection against non-critical attacks.

Anther useful pieces of advice involves choosing weapons that match the element of the player character. Wo Long's level-up system involves picking one of five elements at each level to power up. Each element raises different stats and unlocks the abiliy to cast new spells of that element, but every weapon has different elemental affinities and will do more damage in the hands of players who've chosen to level up in different ways.

While the general response to the game has been positive, a few people responding to the post took the opportunity to derisively criticize the demo build for its technical shortcomings. One user posted a video warning players that overuse of the deflect button caused their character to clip through the ground, setting them up for an easy kill. Another PC user posted a screenshot of the character creator with odd, pastel covered shapes showing up over the character's clothing.

While the demo is available for just a few more hours, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty will be coming to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC this Friday, March 3. It will also be available on Xbox and PC Game Pass as a day-one release.
