Wolfenstein II Switch Port Developer Says No Plans (Yet) for Previous Wolfenstein Games on Switch

While Wolfenstein II is set to debut on the Nintendo Switch later this week, Switch versions of The New Order and The Old Blood are unlikely to come yet.

Originally released last fall, Wolfenstein II earned critical acclaim for its gripping story set in its distinct alternate history version of a Nazi-occupied America, and while Switch owners are getting their first taste of the series later this week, it appears unknown at this time if we’ll see more from the series on Nintendo’s platform in the near future.

Speaking with GameSpot, Panic Button studio head Adam Creighton gave a bit more insight into the upcoming Nintendo Switch version of Wolfenstein II, along with the prospects of seeing previous entries from the series arrive on the system.

Specifically, Creighton explained that at this time, there are “not currently” plans from either the studio or Bethesda to bring over the previous entry in the Wolfenstein series, 2014’s Wolfenstein: The New Order (or its standalone DLC, The Old Blood) to the Nintendo Switch. Creighton added that ultimately, bringing those titles over is “a Bethesda discussion” between them and Nintendo to decide on their release for the platform.

Creighton explained that as far as Panic Button is concerned, the studio is “totally up for anything” to work on porting The New Order over to the system, though it appears that Bethesda may be waiting to see how The New Colossus fares on the Switch before making other decisions. That also appears to include the DLC for The New Colossus as well, as the upcoming Switch version will just contain the main game and none of the post-launch DLC provided for the game since its release last October.

Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC: the game’s Nintendo Switch version will arrive on June 29th, 2018. For more on the upcoming Switch version, you can read our recent preview of it from PAX East.
