Wolfentstein: The New Order is getting a brand spanking new campaign with Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, as announced earlier this month by Bethesda.

The standalone release doesn't require players to own the original Wolfenstein: The New Order and better yet is that it's getting a retail release as well as being available to buy in its digital form.

However, there's a slight catch. For PlayStation 4 and PC owners Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will be getting both a retail and a digital release, however the Xbox One version will only be available in its digital form.

Digital copies will be available for download from May 5th on Xbox One and PC while PS4 players will have to wait until May 6th to get their digital copy. For those wanting a nice shiny box to add to the collection shelf, the physical editions will be released on May 15th for PS4 and PC.

The standalone prequel will supposedly retail for the same price as its digital counterpart, at least according to UK retailer GAME.co.uk where the game is available to preorder at £14.99, however it's worth noting that the website listing does state, in very small and hard to read text that "prices in GAME stores may differ."

[Update] Xbox One owners in Japan will be able to get their hands on Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, literally. Online retailer Amazon will be stocking the retail edition in the land of the rising sun. If you're desperate for a retail copy then imports are your friends, high shipping costs and long waits however, are not.
